Project: One Day Hands-On Oil Spill Familiarisation Course

Assess the customer needs and site specific conditions
Designee training course syllabus to meet specific requirements
Carry out three subsequent sessions for 16 delegates each
The Dublin Port Authority instructed Pollution & Waste Services Ltd to provide a proposal for carrying out an oil spill training course for personnel from various companies operating within the port. In order to reduce the disturbance in operation of various companies, it was critical that the duration of the training course did not exceed 1 day. It was a requirement that the training course be tailored to provide practical hands on training.
The training course included three sessions as follows:
A) Class room session including
- Behaviour and the risk of products that can be spilt in Dublin Port.
- Sensitive areas near Dublin Port
- Dublin Port Contingency plan and response strategy
- Response techniques and measures on water
- Available equipment in Dublin Port
- Pros & cons
B) Hands on session – equipment familiarisation:
Hands on Training – Demonstration of pollution equipment, features, accessories, hands on operation of the anti-pollution equipment.
C) Practical Session – Deployment
Briefing including Health & Safety Issues related to the operation of the equipment.
Hands on equipment operation and deployment as per scenario.
